The following excerpt was written in 1994…
“Ronnie and Sandra McGlothlin started Empire Roofing, Inc. in July of 1982 with the notion that quality workmanship and timely service would one day establish them as one of the premier roofing contractors in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex.
Starting out as strictly a sub-contractor for some larger roofing contractors in the area, Empire’s workmanship soon got a name for being of the utmost quality. Ronnie at this time was running the crew himself. In 1984, there was a demand for Empire’s services, so they created another crew. From 1984 to 1985 these crews generated $504,000 in labor contracts alone. Because profitability had risen substantially from the inception , it was now time to bring in salesmen and start moving away from the sub-contract business. However, because sub-contracting had been so good, about fifty percent of the work continued to be done on a sub-contract basis.
By the time 1987 had come around, Empire’s one truck fleet had grown to be one of the largest and best outfitted in the area. New and clean trucks and equipment as well as neat jobsites had grown to be a trademark. Empire’s sales continued to grow as shown by being honored in 1988 by Inc. 500 Magazine for one of the best roofing contractors of the year.
Many things have lead to Empire’s success besides good workmanship. Telemarketing internships, systematic mailing campaigns and the best salesmen have been very successful in producing leads to generate more business.”

The recipient for the 2018 James Q. McCawley Award was our very own, Ronnie McGlothlin! This award is the highest honor that can be bestowed by the Midwest Roofing Contractors Association.
The award is presented annually to an individual in recognition for outstanding service to the roofing industry.
The award was established in 1969 and is named after James Q. McCawley who dedicated his life to the advancement of the roofing industry in innumerable ways. MRCA established this award in recognition of his devotion to the roofing industry
