New Safety Quarterly Program

At Empire Roofing, safety isn’t just a requirement—it’s our culture. This quarter, we’re proud to launch a new quarterly field crew program designed to keep our teams better informed, better prepared, and fully supported.

Why We Started This Program

We know our crews work in demanding conditions every day, and their safety and morale are top priorities. This program has two main goals:

• Ongoing Safety Education – Keeping every team member up to date with the latest practices, tools, and safety protocols.

• Recognition & Appreciation – Rewarding their hard work with a well-deserved lunch and refreshments out in the field.

Safety First with Juan Villegas

Our Safety Specialist, Juan Villegas, visited each crew on-site to share important safety updates, discuss potential improvements, and address any questions or concerns. His talks ensure our teams stay informed and equipped to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Collaboration Across Departments

Marketing Director Sergio Martinez worked alongside Juan and the Safety Team to help develop this program, making sure the educational content was engaging and easy to understand. By combining safety expertise with creative communication, we’re building a program that not only educates but also inspires.

More Than Just Lunch

While the meals and cold drinks were a hit, the biggest win was the strengthened connection between departments and crews. These visits show that we value our teams not just for the work they do, but for the dedication, professionalism, and pride they bring every day.

Looking Ahead

This is just the beginning. With this program running every quarter, we’re committed to ensuring our crews remain well-equipped, well-informed, and well-recognized.

This week, Empire Roofing did something a little different—our office was filled with wagging tails, playful barks, and the warmth of furry friends. We invited our employees to bring their dogs to the office, creating a welcoming and fun environment that emphasized the importance of mental health and team morale.

We understand that work can sometimes be stressful, and we believe in supporting our employees' well-being in any way we can. The presence of dogs in the office brought an overwhelming sense of joy, relaxation, and connection among the team. It was a reminder of the importance of taking a break, finding joy in the small things, and supporting each other both personally and professionally

For many, their dogs are more than pets—they’re family. And what better way to build team camaraderie than by sharing those special moments with everyone at work? Whether it was a quick cuddle session or a playful romp around the office, it was clear that the energy shifted, with everyone feeling lighter, happier, and more connected.

The week was full of laughter, bonding, and even a little bit of work being done in between puppy cuddles. It’s moments like these that remind us that Empire Roofing is not just a workplace, but a community that values our people, their well-being, and the things that bring them joy.

Cheryl has been an integral part of Empire Roofing for 20 years, now serving as Operating Unit President. Her role is vast and impactful—overseeing budget allocations, setting policies, managing operations, motivating staff, and identifying business opportunities. Cheryl’s leadership ensures that Empire Roofing remains at the forefront of the commercial roofing industry.

For Cheryl, excellence is not just a goal; it’s a daily standard. “In my professional life here at Empire Roofing/Tecta, we strive for excellence every single day. We will not take less than that; we expect that people will want to work hard and perform better than the rest in our industry. Being excellent is to be viewed as exceptional.”

Her journey has been one of perseverance and growth, often stepping out of her comfort zone to advance her career. Reflecting on her experiences, Cheryl shares, “In my twenties, I had a mentor who pushed me to do things that made me uncomfortable. He said that most growth happens when you are uncomfortable, and to embrace the feeling and work through it.” This mindset led her to take on leadership roles in both regional and national roofing associations, where she made a lasting impact in a male-dominated industry.
